Pittsburgh’s first Black woman-owned distillery debuts in East Liberty
East Liberty has long been a destination for Pittsburgh nightlife from past spots such as the Shadow Lounge, 6119, and the Ace Hotel to hot newcomers such as The Bridge Music Bar and Margaux. TLC Libations, Pittsburgh’s first Black woman-owned craft cocktail distillery, celebrates its grand opening inside Oasis Taproom at 5975 Broad St. Oasis Taproom, home to TLC Libations.
Founded by a mother + daughter duo Diane and Erika Turner, their brand specializes in premium "pour-ready" cocktails. Flavors range from Mango-Pineapple Mimosa Punch (with mango-pineapple vodka), Ladies’ Brew (berry whiskey), and Gentleman’s Brew (lemon-ginger whiskey), to a soft and sexy Strawberry Basil Sangria (strawberry vodka).
“They’re smooth, balanced, and refreshing, no matter the weather or time of year,” says Erika Turner.
TLC Libations hosted an intimate tasting in the Oasis Taproom for supporters, family and friends to get an exclusive first experience of the brand and it's different flavors.
Following, the duo hosted a four-day grand opening event including an Alumni Social Hour, an Artists’ Showcase, and a Bring Your Own Vinyl Social Hour with a fish fry and block party to close the celebration. The grand opening festivities were a joy to the community and families that came out.
TLC was part of Ascender’s startup incubator, and the Catapult: Startup to Storefront entrepreneurship program at The Gallery on Penn, an incubator for minority-owned businesses.
