Morgan Cato First Black Woman Hired As Assistant General Manager for Phoenix Suns
Brooklyn native Morgan Cato was recently named the assistant general manager and vice president for the Phoenix Suns, making her the first black woman to hold this position.
"With the league office Morgan played a pivotal role in countless initiatives to grow the game and strategically develop for it to be played at its best. The addition of her background and knowledge will allow us to elevate our basketball operations in several areas.” stated General Manager James Jones
Cato will lead strategy for team and business protocols, basketball growth and performance; focusing on coaching development, player engagement, and front office personnel operations.
Morgan spent the previous decade working in the league office, directly under Byron Spruell she played a key role on the management team developing strategic basketball initiatives for the growth of the game. Cato also assisted in the launch of the Basketball Africa League (BAL)
Her previous experience in professional talent development, financial consulting, and non-profit industries speak volumes on the value she brings to any team she's apart of.
